In the first part of this series, I introduced the Atmakāraka, which is the planet that carries the light of the soul refracted through karma.
Now, we go deeper.
The soul’s planet does not speak in isolation: its lessons emerge through the house where it stands and its condition, whether exalted, weakened, blessed, or burdened.
Together, these details reveal the nuance of the soul’s desire, the work it must fulfill in this lifetime, and the lessons it is called to learn.
If you’re new to the concept of the Atmakāraka, read this post first.
Stained Glass Soul: The Light of the Atmakāraka
For this post, I’m taking a break from further analyzing Epstein’s chart to talk about something much more pleasant: the soul.
In the third part of this series, I’ll explore the Karakāṁśa, the name given to the Atmakāraka in the Navāṁśa, or D9 chart, and why it is so central to understanding dharma and purpose.
If you’d like to see real chart examples, where I go deeper into the Atmakāraka in the Rāśi (main birth chart), I invite you to become a paid subscriber. Your support helps sustains my research and writing about Vedic astrology, and allows me to continue offering these teachings in greater depth.
PS for free subscribers:
For this post I chose case study charts where the Ātmakāraka is tied deeply to family, in one example the mother, in another the father. Although I didn’t initially plan it that way, it feels very much in the spirit of the upcoming Pitṛ Pakṣa, or fortnight of the ancestors, which falls in eclipse season this year. This make it a uniquely potent time to work with, connect to, and even clear ancestral ties. More about this soon!
