Look basically anywhere on the Internet and you’ll find a lot of the content on how to make money the fast and easy way. Heck, that’s probably true about the Internet in general. Who doesn’t want to turn a fast buck or set up a lucrative side gig/passive income.
Truth be told, however, we all have our own individual money karma (mine, for one, ain’t all the great). Jyotish (Vedic astrology) is a great tool to understand this karma at a deeper level — and offers powerful remedial techniques to improve and boost your money karma.
Here’s where you need to look in your Rashi (natal) chart to get the answers.
The 2nd house
The second house in your chart is where you can see money in the bank. These are the assets and resources that you have and store.
The 11th house
The eleventh house in your chart is where you can see income and financial gains. This is the money that coming in and being earned.
The 5th house
The fifth house is the house of (future) speculation and investments, as well as luck or lack of luck therein. This is also the house of social wealth and support, which is particularly important in our day and age.
The 9th house
The ninth house is the house of general prosperity and Lady Luck, someone all of us could use at our side!
The 4th house
Although not technically a financial house, the fourth house is where you see real estate and vehicles, which can certainly both be a form of wealth
Jupiter
As the natural Karaka (significator) of the 2nd, 5th, 11th and 9th house, Jupiter is always important to examine in your chart when it comes to finances.
Now that we’ve seen the good places, let’s discuss the houses that show the more negative sides of finances.
The 8th house
The 8th house is the house of debts, loans and inheritance. This is also where you see details about your partner’s money.
The 12th house
This is the house of loss and expenditure. It shows what kind of things you’re likely to spend money on, for better or for worse.
Bringing it all together
Ok, so that’s enough about the places and planet to keep in mind. Let’s now take a look at what you need to examine to understand money karma in your chart.
This includes:
planets in the houses (if any) as well as aspects
the lord of each house
For example, a benefic planet such as Jupiter in the 9th house could bring good luck and wise advisors, while a malefic like Saturn could make someone who is struggles and relies more on hard work than having the fortune of being in the right place at the right time.
However, you should also keep the state of the planet and aspects in mind as well.
For example, if Jupiter is well placed in the 5th, but in Capricorn (the sign of its debilitation) with an aspect from Mars and Saturn, it will not have the power to deliver luck and good fortune in speculation or social support that it otherwise would.
You also need to examine the planet that rules the sign each house is in to gain a deeper look into your money karma.
Let’s say you have Venus and Moon in the second house, which is a very fortunate combination, but that the 2nd house’s lord (let’s say it’s Mars) is in the 12th house with Rahu. Although you may have strong resources to draw on in the case, Mars as second lord together with Rahu in the 12th will also give shocking, sudden expenses.
The 11th house
The 11th house is a bit of exception here: Any planet placed in this house must deliver on your desires and wishes as well as potential for gain.
Although its great to have benefic planets here, like the Moon, Jupiter or Mercury, it’s also a great position for Saturn, as he will be forced to act in your favor and provide gains. Rahu in this house has enormous potential to deliver material financial gains, although it can also bring insatiable greed and dishonest tactics.
Ketu
The exception here is Ketu, a planet that is positive for spirituality but extremely negative for anything material. This planet is particularly poorly placed in the 2nd house of resources and the 11th house of gains. For the 2nd house, he acts like a hole at the bottom of a bucket, and in the 11th he likes turning money into ash.
However, even more difficult placements like this can be handled better if you think a little outside the box. For example, although Ketu isn’t in favor of financial gains, if you have in the 11th house (I personally have this “fortune”) you still can make this work if you bring a Ketu signature into your pursuits, such as something to do with foreign cultures, spirituality or the occult.
Planetary combinations
The last thing you should always keep in mind are planetary combinations in the financial houses, as well as those involving their lords.
For example, if you have the lord of the 9th house in the 2nd, this can indicate luck with savings. If a strong 11th house lord is in the 5th house, this means you will be lucky with the stock market, whereas the 8th or 12th lord in the 5th says the opposite.
The good news?
With Vedic astrology, even if your money karma doesn’t look so hot, there are always remedies you can do that will help the situation. Which ones are the best depend on the particular chart and issue in question.
As is always the case in your chart, not everything is active at the same time, so that pesky Saturn/Ketu combination in your second house may not cause major problems until it is activated by time period. Knowing this can help you prepare and get those remedies going to ease the damage once this comes to pass.
