After the Eclipse: Navigating Rahu and Saturn, and the Pisces Pile-Up

The Pisces pile-up in the sky is about to get more intense. Rahu and Saturn are joining forces about an hour after the solar eclipse on March 29, when Saturn moves into Pisces in the sidereal zodiac. This creates a “storm” energy that can be very overwhelming and disorienting.

In my last post, I put this planetary energy in historical context, comparing how it echoes the Spring of 1968 – as well as how it differs. If you haven’t read it yet, check it out.

Saturn and Rahu in Pisces: Why April 2025 Feels So Intense

Right now, we’re between eclipses and Saturn’s last stand in Aquarius before he joins the Pisces pile-up about a hour after the end of the solar eclipse on March 28/29. Here’s what that will look like:

Diving deeper into the Pisces pile-up

I’ve already talked about the significance of Rahu and Saturn—the karmic heavyweights currently moving through Pisces—but what about the other planets caught in this rare configuration?

How do they shape the current mood—globally and personally? What happens when even planets like Venus and Mercury, which usually bring lightness and clarity, get lost in the deep waters of Pisces?

Let’s break it down.

The Sun: ego, authority and trial by fire

The Sun entered Pisces on March 15 (sidereal zodiac) and will remain there until April 13. Collectively, the Sun represents governments, authority figures, and leadership. On a more symbolic level, it governs vitality, clarity, the soul, and personal vision.

On the one hand, the Sun’s conjunction with Saturn during the New Moon on February 25 spoke to issues with authority and democracy (a very Saturnian form of government). But as the Sun joined Rahu in mid-March, culminating in their exact conjunction on April 18, we entered more dangerous territory.

Rahu clouds and distorts whatever it touches. When paired with the Sun, it can manifest as egotism, authoritarianism, or distorted leadership. At the personal level, you may feel unclear about your purpose or burned out trying to assert control.

That said, the Sun also serves as a purifier. During this period, it’s “burning off” layers of karma from the other planets caught in its rays – especially Saturn, Venus, and Mercury. Think of it as a trial by fire: purification before renewal.

Mercury: foggy logic, communication breakdown

Mercury is debilitated in Pisces, the sign where its normally sharp, data-driven intelligence gets lost. Mercury prefers structure, clarity, and facts. Pisces offers none of that.

To make things even more complex, Mercury is retrograde (vakri), which amplifies its desire and karmic intensity. In Vedic astrology, a retrograde planet is said to behave as though it’s in its opposite sign. So here, Mercury acts like it’s exalted in Virgo, even though it’s stuck in Pisces.

This creates a strange dynamic: a planet that wants perfection and precision, but can’t access the tools to deliver it. That often leads to mental tension, communication failures, and emotionally reactive decision-making. And Mercury’s not alone. It’s surrounded by Rahu’s distortion, Saturn’s heaviness, and the Sun’s heat, further weakening its function.

In mundane astrology, Mercury governs business, communication, finance, and money. So don’t be surprised if you see contract issues, market fluctuations, tech glitches, or media confusion continuing in the collective.

Venus: distorted love, karmic longing

Venus is exalted in Pisces, where it’s supposed to offer unconditional love, beauty, sensuality, joy, and spiritual devotion. But right now, Venus is also retrograde (vakri), and that turns the exaltation upside down.

In Vedic astrology, retrograde Venus acts as if it were debilitated in Virgo. Her love becomes critical, her joy conditional, her softness tangled in overanalysis. The desire for connection is stronger than ever, but clarity is nowhere to be found.

On top of that, Venus is conjunct Rahu, which exaggerates cravings and distorts perception. What seems beautiful or romantic may be obsessive, karmic, or illusory. You may find yourself caught in fantasy, longing for the unreachable, or reassessing old relationships through a distorted lens.

Saturn is nearby too, bringing emotional distance, karmic accountability, and pressure to ground what cannot be grounded. Together, this crowd makes it hard for Venus to shine. Love may feel confusing, pleasure may feel hollow, and connection may come with strings.

In the world, Venus represents women, beauty, relationships, the arts, and the private sector. We may see controversies around gender roles, performative aesthetics, or moral confusion in the arts and business. It’s not a great time for surface-level partnerships, but it is a powerful time for digging deep into what love and value truly mean.

In summary: where are we?

Right now, we are moving through a highly unstable yet deeply karmic period. Pisces, already an emotional and spiritual sign, is overwhelmed by planets that are either weak, distorted, or under pressure.

  • Saturn and Rahu are stirring restlessness, doubt, and long-term karmic themes.

  • Mercury is struggling to function logically or clearly, even while craving perfection.

  • Venus is craving love and beauty but can’t express it cleanly.

  • The Sun is purifying – but through pressure, not ease.

In a nutshell, this means: things may not be what they seem. Cravings can mislead. Messages may get misunderstood. And relationships – whether personal or global –are under a karmic microscope.

What you can do

  • Slow down. Avoid major financial or relationship decisions unless necessary.

  • Double-check everything, including communications, contracts, assumptions.

  • Take space for reflection. Don’t force clarity, as it can’t yet be found.

  • Stay grounded, especially in your body, mind and nervous system.

Note: While this planetary pile-up affects the collective, the way it manifests in your life depends on your Vedic birth chart. The upcoming eclipse and Rahu remedies

The solar eclipse ushering in the Saturn-Rahu storm will occur on March 28/29 depending on where you are in the world. I don’t think I need to go into much more detail, as the issues I’ve described both in this post and the previous one I shared above go into detail on topics that will be baked into this eclipse, and therefore continue to have an impact over the next six months.

In Vedic astrology, eclipses are considered a time to go inward and protect both mind and body. You can find some general guidelines for eclipse dos and don’ts here. For the eclipse itself, focus on these remedies.

Saturn-Rahu remedies beyond the eclipse

The intense energy of the Pisces pile-up will remain in place until the first part of May, which will usher in other new changes I’ll cover in a later post. However, there will be a shift in energy when Venus goes direct on April 12 the Sun moves into Aries on April 13. Since these are also the days with the Rahu-Saturn conjunction is exact, they are likely to be particularly intense, so expect surprising and/or shocking headlines around this time.

To guide you safely though this time, I provided a list of Saturn remedies. These would be useful to use, particularly if you’re getting hit particularly by the Saturn vibe over the next six weeks.

This includes feeling:

  • overly fearful

  • shut down, isolated and depressed

  • a heaviness and overly pessimistic outlook

  • worn out, with particularly low energy

Here is my post with the Saturn remedy suggestions.

A Few Basic Saturn Remedies

I hope Thursday’s New Moon in Aquarius went well for everyone. As I mentioned in my last post, Saturn-Sun combinations can mean low energy and vitality, particularly since the Sun is currently in Saturn-ruled Aquarius.

Rahu remedies

To regain balance and peace of mind in April to the beginning of May, it is a good idea to do some basic Rahu remedies.

Rahu remedies will be particularly important if you feel:

  • agitated and restless

  • confused and overwhelmed

  • a lot of intense emotional ups and downs

  • obsessive and prone to get sucked into what ends up being distorted news or sensationalism

To deal with the chaotic, disorganized energy of Rahu:

  • keep your doom scrolling to a minimum

  • leave your phone home and prioritize spending time in nature (the wilder, the better), especially on Saturdays

  • support foreigners or immigrants in your community; again, particularly on Saturdays, the day Rahu co-rules with Saturn

  • wear a calamus root bracelet or pendant

  • worship the goddess Durga and/or chant the mantra Om hrim dum Durgaya namaha; she is the goddess who has the power to defeat “demons,” such as Rahu; with this simple mantra, you both honor her and invite her to be present in your life

  • in general, focus on deepening your spiritual/devotional path, whatever it may be

Here is a video from the Ayurvedic physician, Robert Svoboda. He talks about the physical effects of the Rahu-Saturn conjunction and offers a few additional tips.

How the Rahu-Saturn conjunction may affect you personally

To find this out, take a look at the house in Pisces in your Vedic astrology chart. If you don’t know your chart, go to deva.guru and enter your birth details, including your correct birth time. Count the houses from the purple words As to the number 12, going in a counter clockwise direction.

For example, in this chart, the number 12 (for Pisces) is five houses aways from the ascendant (As) in a counter clockwise motion, which means Pisces is the sign of the 5th house in this person’s chart.

Here are some ways you may experience this energy based on the house in Pisces in your chart. Please note that these interpretations may be modified depending on which planets this combination may be affecting in your chart. If you are interested in an even more personal interpretation, you can book a consultation here.
